- Gloss
- The preposition marking origin, possession and the relation between a noun and its complement, fusing with the masculine singular definite article.
The most frequent preposition in the language and the one that carries possession, which the noun phrase has no case to express. It is one of exactly two prepositions that fuse with the masculine singular definite article, and the narrowness of that pair is the point the contraction rule makes: a process that fused every preposition with every article would be a rule of the writing system, and a process that fuses two pairs is a stored fact wearing the shape of a rule.
Paradigm
Non-finite forms (no person, so no coordinate in the five-column grid):
- delThe obligatory fusion of the preposition of origin and possession with the masculine singular definite article into one written word.
