The role held by the participant an utterance is directed at, and the anchor of the choice the grammar forces between a familiar and a deferential way of addressing one person.
The addressee is the utterance role the grammar of this language leans on hardest. Addressing one person requires a choice between a familiar form and a deferential one, with no form available that declines the choice, so every utterance directed at one person commits its producer to a relation with that person. Which forms carry each value differs across the varieties, and the record that states them is the politeness realization of the variety rather than this record. One consequence is worth stating here because it is a fact about the role and not about the forms. The deferential option takes the verb agreement of the set that refers to neither producer nor addressee, so a clause addressed to one person can carry marking that would otherwise say the clause is about someone else. Person marking and this role therefore come apart, which is why the role is an object in its own right rather than a label on a person value.

The level it operates at

Everything joined to this object
One group per typed edge, in both directions. A1b guarantees no object node is an orphan, so this is the whole navigation: an object with no edges would have failed the build rather than reached this page.
What this object is a kind of
Walking this object's own `is-a` edges: what it is a kind of. Several branches from one object are several classification axes, not competing supertypes.

Siblings are listed by name, then by id to break ties. That is a display choice made here and not an order the graph asserts.
Fan-out per dimension
A4One row per dimension, largest first. That is a display order, not a verdict: 03-schema.md declares no threshold above which fan-out is too much, so this reports the count and grades nothing.

What kinds of this object there are
Walking the `is-a` edges that point at this object: what kinds of it there are. An object reachable two ways is drawn in both places and is still one object.

conditionThe subject is the person addressed and is normally left unexpressed, since the verb form already identifies it.
conditionThe role manages an exchange, so it presupposes a participant being addressed. It is the one discourse role that disappears entirely from a text with no addressee present, which is what distinguishes it from the three that operate on the text alone.
